It was getting late and I needed something to keep me up studying all night. The first thing I noticed about Roasting Plant was the clear tubes running through the ceiling, where coffee beans were whizzing through on their way to the grinder. Gimmicky, yes, but it was entertaining to watch. The entire shop had a similar vibe, as if it was designed by the Germans. Despite all the mechanical, modern efficiency of the shop, there was a fun and charming feel to the shop, and I’ll credit that to the employees who were discussing the music that was playing before I interrupted them.
She recommended the Guatemalan Antigua ($2.50, medium), and seeing how popular the Chocolate Chip cookie was ($2.50), I decided to get one. The coffee was a little north of being okay, but the cookie was amazing. It had a well balanced mix of a crisp, unburnt edge and a moist, chewy center. The seating isn’t very comfortable, so don’t plan on staying. I’ll probably be back to try something different.
